Our Statement of Faith
WHAT WE BELIEVE
HOLY BIBLE
We believe the Holy Bible (both Old and New Testaments) is the Word of God. Every word of Scripture is God-breathed; written through human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the final authority in all areas of life and is living and active to train every believer in righteousness. (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16–17)
OUR TRIUNE GOD
We declare that there is one true God in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This union is called the Trinity- equal yet distinct, three yet one. This triune God created and sustains all of Heaven and Earth. (1 Corinthians 8:6)
GOD THE FATHER
God is all-knowing (omniscient), always present (omnipresent) and all-powerful (omnipotent). God the Father planned to send his Son, Jesus, to redeem mankind before the world was even created. He is the creator and ruler of everything- his heart to bring everyone to salvation. (Hebrews 4:13, Psalm 139:5-10, Revelation 19:6, 2 Peter 3:9)
JESUS CHRIST, THE SON AND OUR SAVIOR
Jesus is God the Son, our Messiah and Christ, who was supernaturally conceived through the Holy Spirit and born through the virgin Mary. He was both fully God and man and lived a sinless life. According to the Father’s redemptive plan, Jesus suffered and was crucified. He was buried and rose again after three days, defeating death by his resurrection. He ascended into Heaven, sitting at the right hand of God acting as our advocate and interceding for us with God the Father. We believe he is coming back as declared in the Word. (Romans 8:34)
HOLY SPIRIT, OUR COMFORTER + GUIDE
The Holy Spirit is the actual Spirit of God. He is a deposit in every believer, guaranteeing our future inheritance of eternal life. The Holy Spirit gives gifts to every believer to build up the body and work towards God’s comission in the world. He convicts us of sin, guides us into all truth, and transforms us into God’s image. By the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to both preach and understand the Gospel. (2 Corinthians 3:18, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, John 14:26)
THE GOSPEL + SALVATION
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world. By his death, he took our place taking on the wrath of our sin, all to bring us back to God. Everyone who confesses and repents of their sin, and believes in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, is declared, “Not Guilty.” By this declaration, believers experience new life, being “born again” as God’s children and receive eternal life in Heaven. (2 Corinthians 5:21, John 3:3-4, Romans 6:4)
THE CHURCH + BELIEVERS
We believe in the Church, the Body and Bride of Christ, made up of all believers in Jesus Christ throughout the world. God’s mission for his church is to know him and make him known, empowering believers to wholeheartedly live this mission in their world of influence. Every believer is called to be baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit in order to walk in the fullness of life. As part of the Body, we are empowered to gather together for fellowship, prayer, and practice communion as we seek to glorify God and grow in Christ. (Acts 2:46-47, Matthew 28:19)
